Care Quality Commission Inspection Report – August 2016

On 31st August 2016 our practice underwent inspection by the Care Quality Commission. Following this we have been given an overall rating of Requires Improvement.

The CQC recommendations were in relation to administrative procedures including mandatory staff training, locum recruitment and some health and safety and premises management improvements.

No issues were identified in relation to clinical care matters

We have listened to CQC and have created an action plan to address their recommendations so we will meet the administrative standards expected. We have already implemented processes to improve most of the areas identified. We will continue to work on the other areas so they are resolved as quickly as possible.

The management team of The Helsby and Elton Practice and our Patient Participation Group (PPG) are naturally disappointed with this overall rating as we do not feel it is a reflection of the quality of clinical care we provide to our patients. During the inspection CQC spoke to a number of patients and received positive feedback from them all. We recently obtained very high patient satisfaction scores from the annual IPSOS Mori GP Survey; 96% of our patients would recommend the practice to someone moving into the area. We have been given an award from West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group for this achievement.

Please be assured that we will continue to provide the high standard of care that our patients deserve, through the dedication of our staff and teamwork across the community.
